At Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we have elected to transform the way we deliver our respiratory physiotherapy services.
We are recruiting a Band 6 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist to deliver high quality care for patients on our 54-bedded respiratory unit including a 5-bedded acute bay.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and forward thinking physiotherapist to further develop specialist skills in respiratory physiotherapy care and work alongside respiratory nurses and physicians providing evidence-based treatments for a complex patient group.
As a specialist Physiotherapist you will be responsible for managing your own caseload while supporting the development of other members of the team including the wider MDT.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be involved in audit, staff supervision and development and will support the Team Lead in operational management and service improvement.

Main duties of the job
The established Respiratory Physiotherapy team support the patient pathway providing specialist knowledge and services to complex respiratory patients across 7 days.
A flexible and pro-active approach is essential for this post as are excellent team working skills. You should have post-graduate experience in a variety of clinical specialties and be able to motivate patients throughout their journey.
Key responsibilities will include the education and development of staff and students, audit, research and clinical effectiveness as well as service review and evaluation.
You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate not only patients but staff. You must be organised, flexible and able to empower others.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist in a broad range of areas including relevant experience in the specific clinical specialty
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team
- Experience of networking within physiotherapy and in the wider Health & Social Care community
- Experience in clinical audit, research and effectiveness
Desirable criteria
- Involvement in physiotherapy projects/working groups physiotherapy
- Clinical education and development of physiotherapy staff and other members of the MDT
Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Diploma/Degree in physiotherapy or equivalent experience / relevant experience
- Understanding and knowledge of clinical governance issues within own clinical practice and wider implications for delivery of patient services.
- Current registration with the Health Care Professional Council.
- Portfolio evidence of reflective practice, relevant experience and CPD
- IT skills
Desirable criteria
- Member of the CSP
- Evidence of relevant post graduate courses
