Employer heading
Specialist Physiotherapist - Community Respiratory Physiotherapy
Band 6
Job overview
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive airway condition that significantly reduces physical activity and contributes to psychological challenges, disability, and poor health‑related quality of life. Within Doncaster, COPD prevalence is higher than the England average, and the area experiences higher mortality rates and more respiratory‑related hospital admissions than the rest of the UK.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) is a vital component in the management of symptomatic patients with chronic respiratory conditions, including COPD. The core benefits of PR include reducing breathlessness, improving exercise tolerance, enhancing health‑related quality of life, and reducing hospital admissions and exacerbations.
This role offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to work across pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory outpatient services, and community settings, delivering high‑quality assessment and intervention for people with chronic respiratory disease. The postholder will play a key part in improving access, supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, and addressing health inequalities within Doncaster’s communities.
This role involves independent working, including community visits and clinics. It requires flexibility and confidence to work alone while supporting the service as needed. Regular supervision and development opportunities will be provided.
This vacancy may close early if a high level of interest is received
