Job overview
A fantastic opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and experienced registered nurse to join the Cardiology Team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust as a Band 6 Junior Sister / Charge Nurse on Ward CCU (18) at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
A high profile, accessible and responsive individual who will provide support to the current Band 7 on Ward CCU.
The successful candidate needs to be able to support the Band 7 within the clinical area to ensure agreed standards are met and quality maintained. they will monitor and improve standards of care through clinical audit, teaching and support of their professional colleagues.
The post holder will be expected to provide clinical expertise and knowledge, demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to identification, assessment, treatment and management of the client group.
Main duties of the job
The post holders will be responsible for supporting the Band 7 Sister with the co-ordination of the ward and leading a skilled workforce to implement changes that will see an improvement to patient pathways.
We are looking for someone who as excellent clinical and leadership skills, who can make decisions and be a role model for the nursing workforce.
The successful candidate will work within an established team of nursing staff supported closely by the Senior Team.

Personal atributes and Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate good verbal communication skills with multidisciplinary team/clients/relatives
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver educational and clinical skills training
- Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working practice as required with good attendance and high standards of clinical care
- Precise and methodical working practice and demonstrate ability to work and manage the ward day to day unsupervised
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate knowledge of dealing with conflict supporting staff through mechanisms such as clinical supervision.
- Evidence of change management and involvement in service development
- Provide evidence of supervisor/ implementation of teaching programmes for student nurses, eg preceptorship education, mentorship
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience at band 5 working within Cardiology
- Significant medical nursing experience
- Evidence of ward/dept management as nurse in charge
- Development of knowledge and skills in Cardiology
Desirable criteria
- Experience of carrying out and monitoring PDA process
- Evidence of management responsibilities already undertaken
Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- RN with current registration
- A good standard of clinical knowledge and insight into cardiology conditions and pathways
- Up-to-date knowledge of professional issues
- Degree qualification ( Or evidence of working towards)
- Teaching certificate (or evidence of working towards)
- Demonstrate professional post registration development
Desirable criteria
- Post Registration specialist courses
- Participation in management development courses.
