People Business Advisor

Band 5

Job overview

Do you have an eye for detail? Are you enthusiastic and dynamic? Are you prepared to go the extra mile for our people at all levels across our organisation and ultimately help to deliver high quality patient care? Do you want to be challenged, supported, and appreciated in a demanding environment that puts people at the centre of what we do?

If this is you, we would love to hear from you.

We have numerous exciting opportunities available in our People and Organisational Development Directorate at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH).  We are recruiting to three People Business Advisor roles due to colleagues securing promotions. These roles will work within the People Business Partner teams to provide an outstanding people professionals service to team DBTH and to embody everything that The DBTH Way exemplifies.

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 13th or Wednesday 20th August 2025.

Main duties of the job

A typical day in this role could include delivering training to managers, supporting managers in the resolution of people issues ensuring we are compassionate, fair and consistent in our approach, designing toolkits to support the application of our policies, writing guidance and intranet content, supporting colleagues to remain at work, and advising a colleague or manager who needs support to interpret a policy.

You will need to have a good knowledge regarding the application of employment legislation and have a sound background in HR supported by experience of working in a demanding and complex environment.  You must have excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt in changing circumstances, maintain pace and reach timely outcomes. You must be able to interpret and triangulate workforce information. You must be able to understand the impact of processes and procedures as well as human factors. You will be a role model, exhibiting behaviours that reflect DBTH values and you will champion the People and OD Directorate to the rest of the organisation.

You will be exposed to diverse opportunities for personal growth and development. You will need to have confidence, be comfortable in being outside of your comfort zone and able to remain composed in challenging situations.  You will be dynamic, committed and enthusiastic about our people agenda to support the delivery of outstanding and safe patient care.

Working for our organisation

DBTH is one of Yorkshire’s Leading acute trusts, serving a population of more than 440,000.  Our services are based over three main hospital sites and several additional services employing over 7,000 colleagues.

At DBTH we have a comprehensive framework of behaviours that guide us in our daily working lives, these form the DBTH Way.  We pride ourselves on our commitment to the values of We Care and now the DBTH Way builds upon these foundations, providing further clarity on what it means to embody these values in our everyday interactions.

As an organisation that supports flexible working, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applicants from all sectors of the community, particularly from under-represented groups including those with disabilities, members of our ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+ communities.

We offer a range of benefits to support our people including:
•    Extensive range of learning opportunities
•    NHS Pension Scheme
•    Generous holiday entitlement in line with Terms & Conditions
•    Comprehensive health and wellbeing support
•    NHS Car Lease schemes and a range of salary sacrifice scheme
•    Discounts on restaurants, getaways, shopping and finance through external providers.
