Stroke Research Sister / Charge Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research and Innovation Team and Stroke Team to work as a Stroke Research Sister / Charge Nurse.

This post will be based in the Stroke department to enable the early identification of patients for Research studies. 

You will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team, managing and coordinating stroke clinical research studies. The aim of this post is to increase recruitment into stroke research studies as part of the strategic development of Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post will involve recruiting patients into stroke clinical studies, providing support and education whilst on the clinical study and the collection and documentation of accurate data.

The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating the set-up of new studies, in conjunction with the R&I department. This will include studies adopted onto the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) portfolio and those commercially sponsored. The post holder will work as part of the larger team to ensure that Stroke research is delivered in accordance with the necessary requirements and regulations, including ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.

  • Post registration experience as a nurse working in Stroke clinical environment
  • Able to undertake all nursing duties without supervision.
  • Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge underpinned by theory.
  • Proven experience of team leadership

Qualifications & Training

  • First level Adult Nursing - NMC registration
  • Minimum 2 years nursing practice in Stroke
  • Teaching qualification ENB 998 and/or C&G 730 or equivalent relevant experience
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
