This is an exciting opportunity to become a specialist Band 6 Physiotherapist working in the A-rated Stroke pathway at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as part of a dedicated and highly acclaimed multidisciplinary team.
The successful applicant will join current Band 6 Physiotherapists as part of a rotation including the following clinical areas:
- Hyperacute Stroke unit - Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI)
- Stroke Rehabilitation - Montagu Hospital
- Neurological Rehabilitation -DRI
This is an exciting time the DBTH Stroke therapy team with a number of quality improvement and research projects across the pathway. The successful post holder will play an integral role to supporting these developments and have a positive impact on the experience and outcome of stroke survivors in Doncaster and Bassetlaw.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should have the experience, knowledge and skills to work with patients with stroke or neurological conditions. A flexible and pro-active approach, excellent communication and team working skills are essential. We will support you to develop additional skills through regular clinical supervision and CPD.
The roles encompass HASU/Acute Stroke ward weekend working. This is currently approximately one weekend in every five. Enhancement is paid for weekend working, days are taken off in the week with a flexible approach to meet the individual needs of staff and support a healthy work-life balance.
As a Band 6, the post holder will play a key role in ongoing service review, development and delivery across the Trust’s stroke and neurology pathway. There will be opportunities to participate in quality improvement and innovation projects. You will contribute to the education, training and development of Band 5 Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants, Multidisciplinary staff and students. The role will include undertaking professional development appraisals and service evaluation including audit.
The Physiotherapy service across Doncaster and Bassetlaw undertakes a number of out of hours services. The post holder will be assessed for suitability to support one of these services.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Diploma/Degree/Masters in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of post graduate training in Stroke and Neurology
- Portfolio evidence of relevant experience.
Desirable criteria
- Basic first line management training/Leadership Training
- Student Accreditation Course.
- Specialist training in normal movement / Bobath / Task orientated therapy
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
- Relevant M level post-graduate modules.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Post graduate experience working within Stroke and neurology
- A range of experience in different specialties
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary/multi-agency teams
- Experience of supervision/appraisal of junior, support staff and students.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of professional ‘cross boundary’ working i.e. with Occupational Therapy
- Experience of participating in service development and quality improvement projects.
