MRI Radiographer
NHS AfC: Band 6
Job overview
Permanent | Full time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated Paediatric MRI Department in Sheffield. We operate two MRI scanners on site: a GE Optima 1.5T and an Intra-Operative Philips Ingenia 3T.
You'll be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality diagnostic services to children across South Yorkshire and surrounding areas. We're looking for someone with strong communication and organisational skills, a commitment to CPD, and a growing understanding of MRI safety and health regulations.
We offer excellent CPD opportunities including research, postgraduate training, audits, and specialist development. Come be part of a team that values quality, innovation, and professional growth.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the MRI Lead Radiographer your responsibilities will include:
• Deliver high-quality paediatric MR imaging at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. Perform specialised paediatric MRI scans within departmental guidelines and MR Regulations.
• Maintain a supportive, child-friendly hospital environment during imaging.
• Work in line with MR policies, codes of practice, and professional standards.
• Support MRI services across neurosurgery, oncology, abdominal, vascular, forensic, and musculoskeletal specialities.
• Join the on-call MRI rota (evenings/weekends) after training, as part of the hospital's trauma centre service.

As we approach our 150th anniversary in 2026, we're excited to keep building our leadership in children's health, improve experiences for patients and staff, and focus on our communities and population health.
We also offer excellent benefits to support your wellbeing, with generous annual leave and pension schemes, health and wellbeing programmes, and exclusive discounts — helping you thrive at work and beyond.
