Are you looking for a rewarding administrative role that makes a difference? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the e-Systems Team at Sheffield Children’s as a Ward Clerk.

As part of our e-Systems team, you’ll deliver essential clerical support to the wards. You'll help maintain the smooth operation of services, supporting clinical staff and being a welcoming point of contact for patients and families.

About You:

You’ll enjoy being part of a team, working with the public and will have some previous administrative experience. You’ll be able to complete tasks on time and be comfortable working in a busy role. You'll also be empathetic, with a genuine interest in supporting patient care.

Main duties of the job

You will report to the Ward Clerk Supervisor, and your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide administrative support on the ward

  • Use hospital systems to maintain patient information

  • Be a point of contact for visitors and families to the ward

  • Communicate effectively with patients and team members

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of undertaking general office duties or previous experience of working with the general public/good level of accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of clerical work gained within a health service environment
  • Previous experience of working in an EDMS Scanning/Ward department

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Customer care
  • Good computer literacy with accurate keyboard skills
  • Data input
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Commitment to supporting a caring environment
Desirable criteria
  • Working knowledge of PAS and hospital administrative processes and practices

Qualifications & Training

  • GCSE Mathematics/English Language grad 4/5 or above (or equivalent)
