Paediatric Dietitian (Cystic Fibrosis)
NHS AfC: Band 6
Job overview
Permanent | 22 hours per week
We're looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate dietitian to join our Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis team, giving an opportunity gain experience in a specialist area within a nationally renowned children's hospital.
Previous experience in paediatric and cystic fibrosis dietetics is preferable, but not essential as full support and training is provided. You’ll join our multidisciplinary team, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings to deliver a specialist service. Your work will be based on evidence and best practice guidelines, and you’ll develop your skills in this rewarding and dynamic field.
You’ll also participate in the Sheffield dietetic student training programme, supporting student dietitians on placements.
If you're committed to working with children and their families, and this role sounds right for you, we welcome your application to become part of our team!
Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Dietetic Manager, your responsibilities will include:
-
Manage a caseload of inpatients, outpatients, and telephone consultations, providing dietetic advice and developing personalised care plans.
-
Assess nutritional needs, prescribe treatment, and collaborate with MDTs to adjust care plans.
-
Maintain accurate records, support safe patient discharge, and collaborate with relevant agencies and catering services.
-
Deliver high-quality education to healthcare professionals, adapting teaching methods and resources to meet diverse learning needs, including communication and psychological challenges.
-
Participate in clinical audits, review new research, and contribute to the development of evidence-based dietetic procedures.
-
Communicate complex or sensitive information, using counselling skills to build rapport and adapt methods to ensure understanding across diverse needs.
