We are looking for an Operational Manager to provide business and operational support to the Surgery and Critical Care division at Sheffield Children's Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills in an NHS environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operational management and service planning

  • Performance management and delivery

  • Information analysis

  • Clinical governance and risk management support

Main duties of the job

You will report to the Service Manager, and your responsibilities will include:

  • Support service development, redesign, and business planning

  • Draft business plans

  • Communicate with the Trust and commissioners

  • Collaborate with clinical teams to meet performance targets

  • Manage daily operational issues and ensure effective communication

  • Provide data on activity, waiting times, and performance

  • Work with Information, Finance, and commissioners to support services

  • Oversee Divisional meetings and internal communications

  • Line manage designated staff

  • Support clinical governance and risk management

  • Monitor performance and provide quality-related information

  • Basic Degree or proven graduate level ability or equivalent
  • Training Evidence of on-going professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification

Experience

  • Experience of service management
  • Proven track record of delivering service improvement
  • Experience of successful working with external agencies
  • Proven track record of service planning
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical governance
  • Experience of successful operational management in a healthcare setting

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of the NHS and of the management of health care services
  • Good understanding of Clinical Governance and related matters
