An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent part time Clinical Co-ordinator position in the Cystic Fibrosis OutPatient Clinical Nurse Specialist team at the Northern General Hospital.
This role will be to work Thursday & Friday, working opposite days to the current post holder.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, interested in working with us in this rapidly evolving speciality to co-manage the day to day clinical workload of the CF MDT. Based in the CF CNS office, you will be supporting the CF CNS team with a range of admin and clinical duties & assisting in the running of CF clinics. You will be involved in communication with our patients organising annual review appointments & dealing with patient queries, directing them to the appropriate member of the MDT. As a team we are focused on improving our service and patient experience, and the clinical co-ordinator plays a key role in co-ordinating our service improvement work.
All clinical training will be given - this includes spirometry, venepuncture, & ECG.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the CNS team to coordinate and facilitate Multidisciplinary Team working across the Adult CF pathway to ensure the provision of high quality patient service in both the outpatient and inpatient setting.
Co-ordinate care and support by providing a single point of contact for patients & staff.
Triage calls from patients & their carers, & direct to appropriate member of MDT.
To assist nursing team with clinical skills and procedures, i.e. Venepuncture, Cannulation, ECG and Spirometry – full training will be given.
Maintain high Risk register, disseminating updates to appropriate members of Multidisciplinary team, and liaising with patients and the wider MDT
Organise and arrange weekly service improvement meeting.

Diabetes and Endocrinology
Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Respiratory Medicine
All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus’ although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital. The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus. Outpatient services operate on both campus’ and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent experience/ qualifications which would include Key Skills Level 1 at English and Maths)
- Experience in the use of IT systems for management of Adult Patients including Lorenzo, EDMS.
Desirable criteria
- Additional training in the field of Adult Cystic Fibrosis.
- Service Improvement training.
- NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care.
- Technical Skills in venepuncture and ECG
- Spirometry.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant Clinical Co- Ordinator or Equivalent Administration experience at Band 2/3
- Ability to work autonomously and manage own workload.
- Experience and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in managing change within an MDT setting.
- Experience of database management.
- Service Improvement Training and experience.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent effective communication skills
