The Trust is looking to appoint an enthusiastic IT procurement contracts professional to join the Procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient procurement and contracts management service across a range of stakeholders.

The department is looking for a dynamic and experienced IT procurement contracts professional to enhance relationships with stakeholders, to drive productive collaboration and effective forward planning to manage non-pay activity.  Reporting to the Strategic IT Procurement Manager, the IT Procurement  Contract Manager will provide procurement and contracts management expertise to stakeholders within the Trust: advising on successful contracting within the context of public procurement regulations and the Trust’s internal regulations and policies.

The post-holder will be an integral part of the team working with managers/stakeholders to develop procurement strategies for agreed categories of spend and to identify opportunities for the achievement of directorate savings. 

Main duties of the job

 

To take responsibility for leading high-value and complex  tenders and contracts for IT goods and services, achieving the most economically advantageous outcomes for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Sheffield Children’s Hospital Trusts (the Trusts).

To develop strategies to meet the procurement needs of these specialist product/service categories and the Trusts as a whole.

To act as a category expert in designated procurement category areas, providing specialist knowledge and guidance to ensure best practice, compliance, and value for money across all procurement activities.

To operate effective information systems to ensure accessibility of data that adds value to decision making.

To achieve savings targets in line with the Trusts formal Savings Plan.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of six months due to the post being recruited as part of a limited term project within the Trust. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the requirement for the post to be maintained as a part of the project’s implementation and the timescales associated with this.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.       

All existing NHS staff will only be considered on a secondment basis.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths & English, grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply Diploma (MCIPS), or degree in business-related subject
Desirable criteria
  • MBA or MSC in Procurement / Supply Chain

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive direct involvement in IT Procurement
Desirable criteria
  • Responsibility for managing high risk and/or IT related contracts.
  • Experience of managing staff

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Contract Management training and or equivalent experience
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communications skills
