Job overview
To participate in the effective and efficient day to day operation and maintenance of all types of engineering plant and equipment associated with a modern day NHS Foundation Trust Hospital.
Maintenance Craftsperson will be employed on work appropriate to their core specialist skills and should possess levels of flexibility and competence to allow them to perform the following.
Performs work including activities, which are complex, and/or non-routine. Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment (steam, raising plant and associated equipment, sterilizers, washer/disinfectors, piped medical gas systems, low pressure hot water systems and natural gas systems.
Main duties of the job
Undertaking maintenance, repairs, minor improvements and minor capital work across the Trust, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience on aspects of mechanical building services including boiler plant compressed air pumping installations
- Heating Controls
- Pressure systems
- Experience in fault diagnosis and have the ability to interpreted and analyse complex critical equipment and systems.
- Experience in identifying problems with Building management systems.
Desirable criteria
- Heating and ventilation systems, carrying out annual verification of Critical AHU system in accordance with HTM03-01
- Piped medical gas systems
- Decontamination equipment – sterilizers, washer disinfectors
- Working in a frontline customer service based organisation
- Experience in identifying and rectification of legionella risk assessment surveys.
- Experience in identifying and rectification complex problems in mechanical systems.
- Experience in using CAFM software(Planet)
- Air conditioning systems
Qualifications and Training

- Mechanical engineering apprenticeship
