An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bassetlaw Hospital in this varied and interesting role.

Enhancements for night time, bank holiday and weekend work are offered as a part of this role.

Service Assistant - Portering Team - 37.5  hours per week, shifts to cover the service 24/7 includes weekends and bank holidays.

General Duties - Service Assistants undertake all appropriate portering and cleaning duties within the hospital maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness. This specific role will be predominantly based within the central team, moving patients and items across the hospital site.

Some roles on the central team involve driving the Trust Vehicles and therefore a driving licence will be required.

Main duties of the job

General Duties - Service Assistants undertake all appropriate cleaning  and Portering duties within the hospital maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in the hospital.

This is a physically demanding role with elements of carrying, lifting & moving items. Therefore, the person undertaking this role will need to be relatively physically fit.

Previous experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be given.

  • Evidence of researching Service Assistant role
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of professional cleaning, catering, portering services, working with the public, eg, customer services, retail
  • Experience/knowledge of Decontamination, e.g, Hydrogen Peroxide Vapour/UVA

Eligibility/Qualifications/Tra

Essential criteria
  • Communicates clearly in writing
  • Numerate and literate
  • Holds a Driving licence minimum cat B
Desirable criteria
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • IT Skills, Experience of using software systems
