Paediatric Junior Sister - Band 6 

Are you ready to take your nursing career to the next level? Join our welcoming team at St Helier/Epsom General Hospital Paediatric Emergency Department as a Band 6 nurse! Due to our new skill mix increase and establishment enhancement, we are now looking forward to recruiting additional Band 6 roles alongside our existing Band 6s.
This is a dynamic role with the opportunity to work across other Trust sites as needed. We offer Paediatric Crisis SIM courses, APLS training, Paediatric A+E courses and a variety of professional development opportunities. Plus, our dedicated Paediatric ED Practice Development Nurse is here to support you every step of the way.

Main duties of the job

•    will be professionally accountable for their standards of  professional practice as set by the NMC Code of Professional Standards of practice and behaviour and relevant professional guidelines
•    will undertake the nurse in charge role for the department
•    will supervise, support and educate other team members, including nursing and medical students  
•    will ensure safe and effective clinical practice and enhance patient experience. 
•    will ensure the promotion and implementation of trust policies and the effective delivery of organisational objectives. 
•    will promote the Trusts’ visions, values and divisional objectives

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse – Child (RSCN/RNC) with current NMC registration
  • Be able to demonstrate experience within an acute or emergency Paediatric setting
  • • Within an acute or emergency Paediatric setting Experience of effective shift coordination, management of patient care, staffing + resources
Desirable criteria
  • Module in relevant specialist area e.g. children’s emergency nursing module and Degree (or working towards) in relevant health subject
  • Experience of Paediatric emergency nursing at a Band 5

core skills

Essential criteria
  • mentorship, teaching and assessing
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced competency in nursing skills, e.g. triage and assessment, plastering, IV/ Capital Nurse, central line management
