Consultant in Emergency Medicine

Consultant

Job overview

We are seeking enthusiastic Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join the existing emergency department (ED) team. This is a full time, permanent position.

We are a dynamic department that is committed to providing high quality patient care whilst embracing the benefits of digital technology. The ED is about to embark on an exciting journey with a substantial capital investment into our front door. There is considerable scope for the successful candidates to be involved in and lead service re-design and quality improvement projects, shaping the Royal Surrey Emergency Department’s future state.

Consultants who join us will be given bespoke mentorship, job-planning as well as the benefits of a flexible rota that is currently semi-annualised but we will be moving to full self-rostering in the coming months.

Main duties of the job

Whilst the post has a strong emphasis on direct, consultant delivered emergency care, we are seeking applicants who will train and upskill a diverse clinical work force including medical, acute care practitioner (ACP), physician assistant (PA), undergraduate and nursing staff.  We are established as a regional point of care ultrasound (POCUS) training centre with daily teaching run by accredited trainers. We also boast multi-professional simulation sessions, dedicated weekly teaching, and a unique CESR programme.

Working for our organisation

Royal Surrey is a compassionate and collaborative acute and community Trust. Recognising that our 5000 colleagues are our greatest strength, we offer a comprehensive health and wellbeing program along with a commitment to developing and advancing your career. Our diverse and welcoming Royal Surrey family will ensure you that you feel valued from your initial interview through your entire tenure.

We are clinically led and provide joined up care by bridging the gap between hospital and community services alongside regional specialist cancer care. Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in homes across Guildford and Waverley.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have given us an overall rating of Outstanding.

Royal Surrey has a strong reputation and history to build on. We are proud of our achievements and we are investing in our colleagues through our commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years. There has never been a better time to join us.

Although it isn't the Trusts normal practice, adverts may close early, so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.
