An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the existing Critical Care team in Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust based at East Surrey

Hospital, Redhill. We are seeking to recruit a consultant to join our motivated and committed ICM team which has a strong lean towards education, training and development.

The post is primarily focused on providing 24/7 cover for the 16 bedded Critical Care Unit on a 1 in 10 on call basis on a dedicated ICU only on call rota. There will be opportunity to undertake daytime sessions in another area of specialty interest typically for 2-3 sessions/ week.

 The post will have sessions in an allied specialty- applications are welcomed from intensivists with joint accreditation in anaesthetics, acute medicine or emergency medicine. The posts have a basic 10 PA job plan with the opportunity for additional DCC and SPA by negotiation with successful applicants, up to a maximum 48 hour working week.

Main duties of the job

To provide safe, high quality services for emergency and elective patients.

 • To teach and mentor trainees.

• To contribute to quality improvement; risk management initiatives and policy development so that the overall service is of the highest quality and reflective of best practice.

• To participate in work related projects.

• To adhere to Hospital Policies and Procedures.

• To comply with Health and Safety Regulations, ensuring safe working practices in a safe working environment.      

•To undertake any other duties that may be required, which could include assisting medical colleagues throughout the hospital and acting as a resource for more junior colleagues.
