Job overview
The Histopathology department at East Surrey Hospital is currently looking for a Medical Secretary.
This would suit someone interested in a role in a pathology department who has some experience in the use of medical terminology and experience in audio typing. The successful applicant will be conscientious, enthusiastic and able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
The Medical Secretary role will be based at East Surrey Hospital, and will be undertaking typing from audio dictation, entering of external reports onto the laboratory system, preparation of slides and reports for MDTs, sending away of slides and blocks to external organisations, and supporting the consultants and laboratory
The Histopathology Department is part of Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS)
The department on the East Surrey Hospital site receives over 30,000 specimens per year and currently undertakes specimen cut up, andrology and reporting on the East Surrey site, with the post processing laboratory work carried out on the Royal Surrey site.
