An opportunity has arisen within the Cardiovascular Research Team for a full time Data Manager.
The team delivers a large portfolio of studies across Cardio and Transplant. The Data Manager works closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide opportunities into Clinical Research.
The Data Manager is an integral part of the Cardio Research Team, in which they are responsible for the data collected within the portfolio of clinical trials. The post holder will be responsible for the timely entry of data and query resolution.
The position available is full time, based at Freeman Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection of data relating to patients recruited onto Cardio and Transplant clinical trials, ensuring data is entered onto several trial databases in line with Information Governance, Data Protection and GDPR. With this it’s imperative that the successful candidate has a high level of attention to detail, is organised and can manage their own time. This team is a demanding, fast paced team.
The candidate will be responsible for data query resolution locally, nationally and internationally. With this you must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate across different mediums and a variety of multi-disciplinary staff.
We would expect all candidates applying and the successful candidate to have previous database experience and experience in all aspects of Microsoft Windows.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To be responsible for the collection of data relating to patients treated within the department, in particular, where the patient is entered onto a clinical trial.
- Act as a point of contact for regional, national and international data queries.
- Ensure that Trust policy regarding Data Protection is adhered to.
- Assist the Trial Coordinator in all aspects of maintaining records of patients on trials and the regulatory issues that govern the management of clinical trials.
- Provide administrative support when needed.

KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of trust policy regarding Data Protection - Caldicott Guidelines, Data Protection Act
Desirable criteria
- Good working knowledge of clinical trials and the regulatory bodies to include: GCP, ICH
- Knowledge of eRecord
SKILLS
Essential criteria
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to communicate across a multi-disciplinary team (both verbal and written)
- Ability to prioritise tasks and demonstrate organisational and time management skills
- Ability to accurately transfer data from one medium to another (using paper based and electronic data capture)
Desirable criteria
- Ability to collate, analyse and present accurate data
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Previous database experience
- Must be experienced in all aspects of Microsoft Windows applications
- Previous experience of data management
