An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the team as Retail Assistant to help shape the retail offer of Newcastle Hospitals Charity. 

You will be a motivated self-starter with a passion for retail and for health and wellbeing who will work closely with a range of colleagues and volunteers and provide a high standard of customer care to patients, visitors and staff.

Main duties of the job

  • A retail assistant to support in the effective and efficient day to day operation of the retail shop. 
  • To ensure that duties are conducted in a safe, hygienic, timely manner and to ensure records are maintained. 
  • To exercise judgement in response to stock turnover, stock rotation and food wastage 
  • Demonstrate flexibility and work in any area of the department if needed.

  • A Retail Assistant to support the effective and efficient day-to-day operation of the retail shop. 
  • Ensuring that duties are conducted in a safe, hygienic, timely manner and to ensure records are maintained.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.

  • Basic Food Hygiene Qualification

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of operating electronic cash registers and maintenance and upkeep of retail software system
  • Experience of cash handling, stock turnover, stock rotation and food wastage
  • Knowledge of opening and closing processes of retail shops.
  • Knowledge of controlled temperatures/due diligence of processes.
