The Medicine and Emergency Care Board at Newcastle Hospitals Trust, consists of a range of specialities including Renal Services, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Diabetes, Immunology and General Internal Medicine. We are looking for conscientious individuals with an enthusiastic outlook to fulfil the role of Clinical Administrator within Renal Services based at Freeman Hospital. Offering a full efficient administration and secretarial service to our clinical teams within Medicine and Emergency Care Board these roles are crucial in ensuring we are able to offer the highest level of patient care and management. Please note this is not a clinical role.

Main duties of the job
- One to one administration/secretarial support to consultants and wider clinical teams.
· Data entry
· Audio typing and proof reading
· Updating electronic patient records
· Management of referrals including use of the NHS eReferral system
· Outpatient Clinic co-ordination
· Booking patient appointments, procedures and waiting list entries
· Co-ordination of patient results
· Answering patient telephone enquiries
· Diary management
· Other administration duties.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will have the motivational skills to integrate well with the existing teams and demonstrate true organisational skills. Applicants will be reliable whilst having a flexible working approach in supporting systems and their functions. The post holder will have a genuine desire to provide a quality administration service for patients with a clear understanding of patient confidentiality. The role has lots of variety and ad-hoc demands and the post holder must possess excellent time management and planning skills.
Job Purpose
- Working within a team of administrative staff to provide a comprehensive support service to Consultants, Medical Staff and other clinical members of the team e.g. Specialist Nurses.
- Communicating with patients regarding management of appointments and admissions at the request of the clinical team.
- Provide cover for Team Leader within your administration team as required.
- Cover Clinical Administrator post Trust wide as required.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Level 3 qualification in administration or equivalent/relevant experience in administrative role(s)
- English qualification at Level 2 (GCSE Grades 9-4 or A*-C, or Functional or Key Skills at Level 2)
- Maths qualification at Level 1 (GCSE Grades 3-2 or D-F, or Functional or Key Skills at Level 1
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of secretarial/administrative procedures
- Understanding of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
- NHS Administration/Secretarial experience
- Working Knowledge of NHS Systems e.g. eRecord, System One
- Knowledge of medical terminology
Skills & Abilities
