Job overview
The Cellular Pathology Laboratory, part of the Integrated Laboratory Medicine (ILM) Directorate, seek two full time enthusiastic and suitably qualified Clinical Administrators to join the Administration Team.
This role involves working closely within our administration team, supporting clinicians, laboratory staff and service users. The successful candidate will be required to provide an efficient administrative service. The ability to work independently, following policies and procedures for the department is essential. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility, reliability and must have an organised approach to work.
This role is varied, with ad-hoc demands therefore post holders must possess excellent time management and planning skills. These positions provide the opportunity to work within a very supportive and welcoming team and to further develop existing knowledge and skills.
Previous administration/secretarial experience working within an administrative team in the NHS or Cellular Pathology is desirable.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicants will be part of a busy administration team carrying out a variety of duties which will include: typing clinical macros, handling and preparing laboratory blocks and slides, supporting the senior medical secretaries within the department and preparing multi-disciplinary team meetings for the histopathologists.
You must be educated to GCSE standard to include English Language and possess at least NVQ III Certificate in Business and Administration or equivalent experience. Previous experience with software packages would be an advantage and knowledge of medical terminology is desirable but not essential. You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Working within a team of administrative staff to provide a comprehensive support service to Consultants, Medical Staff and other clinical members of their team e.g. Specialist Nurses and Therapists
- Communicates with patients regarding appointments and admissions at the request of the medical team
- Provide cover for Team Leader within your administration team as required
- Cover Clinical Administrator posts Trust wide as required
