Job overview
The Peri-operative and Critical Care Clinical Board is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Operational Service Manager. This role supports the effective delivery of a wide range of services, including over 50 operating theatres, 64 adult critical care beds, anaesthetic departments, pre-assessment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital, pain management, and sterile services.

The successful candidate will be assigned a specific portfolio within the board, and work closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure services run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. • Support the delivery of service improvement initiatives
• Support the delivery of cost improvement initiatives

- To assist the Clinical Board management team with the management of all aspects of their area(s) of responsibility and take the lead in specific delegated areas.
- Deputise for members of the Clinical Board management team (as appropriate) when required.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- Degree level education or on established pathway supplemented by post graduate diploma level specialist training, management/leadership qualification or equivalent level of experience
Knowledge & Experience

- Knowledge and or experience of operational, people and financial management; service strategy; business planning; and performance management
- Working knowledge and experience of emergency and elective admissions processes
- Line management experience
- Experience of operational management
- Experience of business and service planning
- Fully conversant with NHS Modernisation Agenda including experience of managing waiting lists, booking and choice
