Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hard-working Clerical Officer / Receptionist in the Endoscopy Department in support of the endoscopy services provided on both Freeman and Royal Victoria Infirmary sites. The role will be predominantly based at the RVI but will also be expected to support the Freeman Hospital Endoscopy Department as required.
The successful applicants should have excellent customer care and communication skills, a confident telephone manner, good IT skills, show attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, have the ability to use their own initiative and have previous experience of working in a fast paced office environment. Working well as part of a team and a positive proactive attitude is essential. You will be expected to organise and prioritise your own workload and this will require you to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the service.
You will be working closely with patients, clinical and non-clinical colleagues, providing a comprehensive reception service for the Endoscopy Department.

Main duties of the job
Working in a busy department, applicants should have good organisational skills; good communication and interpersonal skills to provide support to patients, medical and nursing teams within the department and to liaise with departments across the organisation. The ability to communicate with patients in a professional, sensitive and empathetic manner is essential. Previous clerical experience would be desirable but not essential.
The successful candidate will play a vital role to the multidisciplinary team. Supporting the nurse led units by providing a reception service and being the face for patients, staff and relatives alike attending the department. Endoscopy Services is a fast pace friendly facility with high values, working for endoscopy can be highly rewarding and challenging at the same time.
The main duties of this role is to greet patients, relatives and staff attending to the department. Admitting and discharging patients attending for endoscopic procedures for the Trusts electronic patient administration system - eRecord. Preparing paperwork for all day case admissions. Answering telephone enquiries to the department.
