Job overview
We are looking to appoint Clerical Assistants to provide clerical support to Community Directorate clinical staff who are based in clinics and services across Newcastle. We are looking for reliable, flexible and motivated individuals to support the team.
The Post holders will provide clerical support to the Community Directorate, including working within the Single Point of access team based at Regent Point and The Curve Newburn receiving calls from patients, carers, relatives and service users and The Curve Newburn. This post will also include some reception duties across the city.
The admin staff within this service work between 8am and 10pm on a rota basis including evening, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside other clerical staff to evaluate and prioritise workload in a busy environment and respond to the constantly changing needs of the service users in line with local and national targets. They will also provide a high standard of admin support to clinical staff handling telephone calls, using electronic health record SystmOne and receiving requests from patients, carers and service users as well as professionals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide a high standard of support to Clinical staff handling telephone calls.
- To use an electronic referral process (SystmOne) to ensure requests are responded to in a professional, confidential and efficient manner.
- To receive requests from patients and carers, acute hospitals, GP practices, Social Services and health care agencies.
- To communicate directly with members of the public and other services.
- To abide by Trust policies and procedures
- To be an effective part of the team contributing to the departmental objectives.
- Post holder will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other office duties as required e.g. general tidiness, pre-determined stock levels are met and equipment is clean, and stored correctly.
