Job overview
We would like to recruit a Patient Navigator to work within the Urgent Treatment Centres.
There will be a requirement to work across sites currently based at Ponteland Road, Cowgate and The Molineux Centre, Byker.
We are looking for reliable, flexible, and motivated individuals to support the Clinical Teams within the Urgent Treatment Centres.
The actual hours of the post will be discussed at interview as the administration team work daily 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week supporting the clinical staff.

Main duties of the job
- Manage own workload on a day-to-day basis and work independently.
- Manages any concerns surrounding extended access raised by the administration team and escalates appropriately
- Maintain confidentiality within the team at all times when dealing with sensitive issues, relating to patients or to their partners using discretion and initiative.
- Identify own training needs; with own annual IDR and PDP.
- Supervise, train, develop and support other clerical staff
- Responsible for the efficient and effective administrative support to the Admin Team Lead and clinical staff
- Work closely with the Nursing team leads and the daily clinical coordinator.
- Work as part of the Urgent and Emergency Care Alliance

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To manage appointment ledgers and ensure efficiency of the appointment system, including monitoring the flow of patients into the system and reporting any concerns.
- Liaise with relevant staff from various health care settings.
- To maintain awareness of service delivery developments and contribute to the implementation of change within the service.
- To provide a comprehensive, administrative, and clerical support for the team.
- To work flexibly within the team, providing support and training to colleagues.
- Supervise and develop other clerical staff.
- Information management and data quality is essential to ensuring effective management of appointment ledgers.
Person specification
Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in business administration or equivalent qualification / experience
- Good standard of education (GSCE standard or equivalent)
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of data inputting and assisting with audits
- Experience of dealing with patients, public and other health care staff
- Experience of working within a health care administrative setting.
- Experience of working with information technology
- Understanding of confidentiality issues
- Previous administrative experience
- Substantial knowledge and experience of Systmone or other Newcastle Hospitals Community EPR system
- Knowledge of electronic patient record system
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a health care setting
- Previous experience in a higher clerical role
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively
- Organisational skills
- Good communication/interpersonal skills.
