Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join a well-established Looked After and Adopted children's mental health team in Bradford CAMHS. The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team including mental health practitioners, Social Workers, Occupational Therapist, Creative therapists, CBT therapist, Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic psychotherapist, DDP Practitioners, Clinical psychologists, and Forensic psychologists.

The team work closely with Children's Social Care and the Children In Care Nurses . We use a Consultation, Assessment and Intervention Model working closely with other CAMHS teams.

Main duties of the job

To be part of and contribute to the development and delivery of the Bradford CAMHS LAAC offer as part of the wider Children and Young people’s Mental Health Service offer. The LAAC Team deliver services using the principles of I-Thrive and Trauma informed care in a needs led way. The team sits across Getting Help and Getting More help delivering a menu of options to meet need and support the system around the child. The Team’s focus is children who are looked after or adopted and who are experiencing emotional and mental health needs and complexities. The Senior Clinical Psychologist will;

       Provide specialist evidence based psychological assessment, formulation & therapy, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.

       Provide clinical leadership, supervision, consultation and advice on psychological therapies.

       Provide clinical consultation and advice to healthcare professionals across all localities.

       Support adherence to relevant NICE guidance and clinical governance arrangements.

       To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area.

       Work with the Team/Clinical Manager on service development, leading research and development activities.

Person specification

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Doctorate level training in clinical or applied psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence.
Desirable criteria
  • Undertaken post-qualification further training in a specialised area of psychological practice e.g. neuropsychology, CBT, CAT, DBT, solution focused therapy, analytical therapy, systemic / family work etc. Accreditation from a recognised Psychological Therapy body e.g. BABCP, BACP, UKCP via: (a) Professional route; requiring previous mental health qualification e.g. Clin. Psych., RMN, Dip. SW. or (b) where applicable, the KSA (knowledge, skills and attitude) route (e.g. with the BABCP).

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in mental health practise with children, young people and families
  • Application of evidenced based specialist psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service.
  • Application of specialist psychological therapy within individual and group modality.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience applying specialist psychological therapy to patients who have complex difficulties.
