Job overview

We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join the Financial Accounts Team , primarily to provide the Capital and Charitable Funds finance functions for the Trust, ensuring that high quality financial information is provided in an efficient and effective manner.

We are a small team that undertake various roles and work together to meet the demands and objectives of the Finance Department as a whole.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have strong technical skills in order to ensure accurate and timely reporting.  You should have experience of working in a busy finance office environment.

You will need to possess excellent communication and organisational skills and a real commitment to excellent service delivery.  You must be capable of working to tight deadlines whilst ensuring consistency and accuracy, be able to prioritise workloads and be able to work on your own initiative as well as under supervision.  An enthusiastic and energetic approach to work along with an acceptance of work flexibility and continuously changing working practices is essential.

We are a national centre for telemedicine and introduced telehealth to the UK offender healthcare sector and also provide the service to patients in their care homes. Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • CCAB (Professional Accountancy qualification) – studying or have a considerable number of years’ experience in a Financial Accounting or Financial Management role.
  • Appropriate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification (e.g. Accounting, Finance, or Business).
  • Up to date on Latest Accounting Standards and recommendations
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • CCAB passed finalist

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of working in a finance office
  • Experience of using Oracle Finance Ledger
  • Awareness of audit requirements
  • Experience of annual accounts and financial accounting processes
  • Experience of writing reports on technical finance issues which can be understood by non-systems or non-finance people
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of representing the organisation in meetings
  • In depth understanding of NHS Financial Controls
  • Experience of using Nuesoft CARS asset and lease register software

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft software, such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong numeracy skills, with the ability to interpret and present financial data accurately.
  • Ability to analyse areas of work to identify areas which would benefit from continuous improvement
  • Exercise excellent negotiating skills combined with an ability to engage and motivate colleagues and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding and application of our workplace values, together with the underpinning behaviours identified for success in this role
