Job overview
The Corporate Governance team is a small and newly formed team which works at pace. Our mission is to achieve and embed good governance across the Trust through providing professional governance advice, supporting regulatory compliance and enabling safe, effective and transparent decision making.
Main duties of the job
This will include ensuring the Trust’s Council of Governors are supported to function effectively and members are fully engaged with the Trust. The role will deliver a professional, confidential, and high quality administrative and logistical support service to the Trust’s Board of Directors, Board Committees, and Governor meetings, to include agenda production and management, timely production of papers, advanced minute-taking and follow-up of actions as required from the meetings.
As Corporate Governance and Membership Officer this role will be a key contact and support for Trust Governors and Members. The role will assist in the establishment, coordination, maintenance, and ongoing development of a range of corporate governance processes and systems, which ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Masters level qualification or equivalent professional relevant experience in corporate governance role
- Evidence of continued professional development in a relevant field
- Advanced IT and keyboard skills across all Microsoft Programmes
- Evidence of personal professional development.
Desirable criteria
- Recognised professional managerial qualification
- Membership of Institute of Chartered Secretaries or equivalent
- Experience of working in an NHS Foundation trust or local government democratic environment
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience and knowledge of regulatory matters, NHS compliance and corporate governance and experience of their application in an NHS or other public sector setting
- Knowledge of NHS Corporate Governance principles and best practice.
- Evidence of continued professional development in corporate governance or relevant field.
- Knowledge of good staff management principles and experience of managing junior staff (e.g. apprentice).
- Experience of providing comprehensive, high quality corporate governance support
Desirable criteria
- • Experience as a deputizing or acting as a Governance Manager or Democratic Manager, with election experience.
