Job overview

This is a very exciting opportunity for a qualified Dietitian to join our friendly and experienced dietetic team at Airedale General Hospital. The post-holder will work alongside three general paediatric dietitians and a dietetic assistant to support the paediatric dietetic caseload in acute and community settings. The dietitians work from Airedale Hospital and also within health centres and schools within the Airedale NHS Foundation Trust location.

The paediatric dietetic caseload includes faltering growth, food allergies, gastrointestinal disorders, feeding difficulties, obesity, restricted diets, physical and learning disabilities, diabetes, pre-term infants and those requiring artificial nutrition. The postholder will provide a key role in partnership working with patients, carers, the MDT, and wider statutory and private services.They will support team members in ensuring the effective functioning of the team and actively participate in quality improvements to improve paediatric dietetic services. They will provide support  to the team leader deputising for them as required and be involved in providing effective student training and development.

 

Main duties of the job

q To hold dietetic outpatient clinics for children with a variety of clinical conditions.
q To provide a comprehensive dietetic service to children on home enteral feeds.
q To provide a dietetic service to children with diabetes
q To provide a dietetic service to paediatric inpatients.
q To attend multi-disciplinary team meetings in paediatrics as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or post-graduate diploma in nutrition and dietetics
  • HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate courses relevant to nutrition and dietetics
  • Member of relevant BDA specialist interest group
  • Recent post graduate courses or MSc module on paediatric dietetics, diabetes or related areas of dietetic practice

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant and recent experience of dietetic practice
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Relevant and recent experience working in either acute and/or community settings
  • Experience of guideline development, implementation and audit
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of paediatric dietetics or working with children or young people
  • Experience working as a specialist dietitian
  • Experience of developing and implementing guidelines in own clinical area
  • Experience of supervising other staff members
