Job overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated Registered Nurse with excellent communication and clinical practice skills to prepare for, support and deliver training to our nursing team within the Emergency Department.
Working under the direction of the Practice Development Lead, the post holder will assist in delivery of a comprehensive training programme to all roles within the nursing team, including registered nurses and health care support workers.
Main duties of the job
The Practice Educator is responsible for working alongside our registered and unregistered nursing workforce in the Emergency Department to ensure they receive the highest standard of support, education and supervision with specialist clinical skills.
The post holder will help the nurses & HCSW’s to learn, develop and complete their clinical competencies in conjunction with members of the clinical team.
The role will involve working in practice and the post holder will need to be clinically competent and sufficiently experienced to do so. You will provide support and advice to the clinical teams, Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors.
The role aims to enhance the quality of patient care and positively contribute to the future healthcare professional workforce.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- SLIP or ENB 997/998 Teaching or equivalent
- Leadership development e.g. Edward Jenner Programme / FEN Leader Programme or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Generic Instructors Course – PGCert Education
- ALS or APLS instructor.
- Willingness to study for a teaching qualification
- Leadership or management qualification or postgraduate study
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to use NHS IT systems
- Understanding of Health and Safety
- Understanding of Data Protection and Confidentiality
Desirable criteria
- EPR experience (Systm1 / Cerner)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Experience of teaching to small and large groups or presenting ideas and projects.
- Experience of teaching clinical skills in a clinical setting
- Experience of assessing clinical skills
Desirable criteria
- Teaching in an academic setting
- Previous clinical education or practice development role.
- Teaching resuscitation at BLS, ILS or ALS level.
- Experience of developing teaching materials and teaching programmes
