Job overview

The People Partnering team at Airedale are looking to recruit an experienced HR Business Partner to join our innovative and forward thinking team. We have a strong team ethos and work together effectively to ensure our people come first in everything we do. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated to work in a fast paced and exciting environment supporting a diverse portfolio. The role will work across the Trust, primarily supporting Corporate Services.

Although a core member of the People and OD Team, you will be an integral part of the management teams you support. As a HR People Partner you will lead on all aspects of the people agenda for the Directorate including strategic workforce planning, modernisation, engagement and performance of the workforce.

You will be educated to masters level, CIPD qualified, possess good judgement, sound decision making and the ability to influence. You will need to have a high degree of attention to detail and the ability to manage and interpret data accurately. You must also have exceptional organisational skills and the skill to manage multifaceted change initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The successful HR People Partner will ensure that we provide the best HR service through the development of strong people practices, robust policies and procedures and ensuring a culture which is in line with our values and behaviours.

With demonstrable experience in a senior HR position and a strong technical knowledge, you will be a compassionate leader and a good listener, someone who truly values collaborative working and
engagement.

A key component of the role is the development of excellent working relationships with senior managers and multi-professional staff, built on credibility and excellent technical knowledge and an expert in strategic HR management and positive transformation.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Specialist HR knowledge and experience, at Masters level or equivalent level of experience
  • Chartered MCIPD or equivalent CIPD advanced diploma (Level 7) with commitment to upgrade within 12 weeks
  • Evidence of on-going continuous professional development in HR and OD
Desirable criteria
  • Employment law qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Expert knowledge of key current issues in human resources, across local, regional and national networks and the ability to apply this knowledge to the Trust’s people strategy
  • A full understanding of the NHS workforce strategy and NHS people policy
  • Extensive specialist knowledge and understanding of a full range of HR policies and best practice, employment law and their application
  • An in depth knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions of Employment and their application, including medical terms
  • Knowledge of OD and learning and development approaches and practice
  • Understanding of organisational change models and their application
  • Knowledgeable about workforce planning methodologies
  • High level knowledge and understanding of approaches to people engagement, health and well being initiatives
  • Knowledge of NHS job evaluation processes
Desirable criteria
  • An understanding of NHS funding streams and the wider healthcare economy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant and varied experience in People and OD activity, working with managers to deliver high quality HR services with proven successful outputs
  • Significant experience working in large/complex unionised organisations at senior level (NHS or equivalent)
  • Experience of contributing to workforce planning, setting project vision, objectives, monitoring and reporting progress
  • Experience of interpretation and production of complex reports to support delivery of people transformation programmes
  • Significant experience of dealing with complex people management issues including disciplinary and grievance issues.
  • Experience of employment tribunals.
  • Significant experience of partnership working and trade union collaboration
  • Experience in leading the people aspects of major change programmes and associated employee relations requirements, including TUPE
  • Provision of leadership in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion issues
  • Experience of leading and motivating teams
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Experience of workforce analysis and benchmarking
  • Experience in recruitment and selection techniques and of running senior level recruitment campaigns/exercises
