Job overview

We have an exciting and unique opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, hard working and adaptable Pharmacy Technician to work at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. This is a rotational role, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work across the full range of pharmacy departments, including the dispensary, inpatient wards, aseptics, medicines information and others.
 
The successful candidate will need to be registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician, and will have excellent interpersonal skills, be good at managing their time, be flexible in their approach to work and be an excellent team player. 
 
Applicants will need to have excellent dispensing and communication skills to join our friendly, supportive and welcoming pharmacy team.  The post holder will also be expected to take part in the weekend and bank holiday rotas to ensure an effective service provision.
 
We will support the successful candidate with their introduction into this role, and with their future professional development.

Main duties of the job

  • Full dispensary activities, including dispensing and accuracy checking medicines supply for inpatients,  prescriptions for outpatients and medicines on discharge.
  • Ward medicines management activities including assessment of patients own drugs, completion of drug history and medicines reconciliation activities, ensuring full supply of medicines for an inpatient stay and on discharge,.
  • Aseptic preparation of a wide range of products following validated standard operating procedures.

  • Rotation through pharmacy procurement, homecare, medicines information as required
  • Supervision and training of a range of junior staff including students, senior assistant technical officers and assistant technical officers.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BTEC in pharmaceutical science, NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Registered with GPHC
Desirable criteria
  • Hold an accredited checking qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current NHS guidance/initiatives affecting hospital pharmacy.
  • Understands Health & Safety in the workplace
Desirable criteria
  • Good manufacturing practice knowledge

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills( both written and verbal)
  • Computer literate and experience of using Pharmacy systems

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous dispensing experience
