THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MOTNHS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR THE SECONDMENT POSITION, YOU MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM YOUR CURRENT LINE MANAGER PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POST. 

We are looking for a talented and organised Dental Nurse. The successful candidate will have proven clinical and leadership competencies, excellent organisational skills and an ability to problem solve multiple issues within a fast-paced custodial context.

You must have a Certificate in Dental Nursing or equivalent NVQ and National Registration.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work mainly in HMP Berwyn but may be required to travel within the North Wales Community Dental Service locality, for example clinics, hospitals, schools, domiciliary visits, mobile dental units and to carry out treatment at other sites, for example, nursing homes.

To support the work of the dental team by providing dental nursing skills

Working in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Dental Service Specification for HMP Berwyn while on site and the service requirements, policies and procedures of the CDS while on CDS premises.

Essential criteria
  • Certificate in Dental Nursing or equivalent NVQ
  • Proven maintenance of post-basic training
  • National Registration

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent or current dental surgery experience in NHS GDS/PDS practice
  • Assisting in routine dental treatment of adults
Desirable criteria
  • Experience with child and adult special care patients (including the elderly)
  • Stock control and ordering
