Within this role you will lead the team in a busy, energetic and ever changing ward. No two days are the same and you will always feel like you are making a difference for the better after every shift.
Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust are committed to the wellbeing of their staff and this is echoed within the acute inpatient service.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse who is compassionate, creative, and flexible in their approach to delivering individualised, person-centred care. The successful applicant will have good knowledge of the Care Programme Approach, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, person-centred care-planning and complex risk assessment/management. They will demonstrate leadership qualities and excellent organisational skills and the ability to develop and mentor staff within the team, working alongside the Clinical Team Manager ensuring that the ward continues to provide the highest standards of care and is effective operationally. Assisting in the leadership of the service, they will be expected to contribute toward the management and supervision of the team.
Main duties of the job
On a day-to-day basis, the Charge Nurse will be expected to perform inpatient nursing duties, such as taking charge of the ward, medication, MDT meetings and one to one activities with service users. In addition, working at a more senior level, they provide leadership and management support to the ward alongside the Clinical Team Manager, which includes deputising in their absence, assisting with supervision, appraisal, staff development and clinical governance as well as overseeing caseload management and providing leadership and guidance to all members of the team.
If successful, you will be encouraged and supported to develop your own specialist skills, knowledge and competence through participation, reflection, supervision and training, with a strong focus on service improvement and individual professional development planning.
Staff are expected to work a full range of shifts across a 24hr, 7 day shift pattern which includes nights and weekends.
