Reading, Berkshire, Full time (37.5hrs) - job share can be considered  

The Paediatric Community Dietetic Service based in Tilehurst, Reading- has an opportunity to offer a permanent full time paediatric Band 6 role. 

The post holder will be covering a varied community caseload, including clinics across Berkshire seeing patients for fussy eating/ CMPA/ Gastro issues/ faltering growth along with other dietetic concerns. There are also opportunities to develop experience and skills in other areas of community dietetics as well as line managing and mentoring junior staff. 

We are a mobile working service and offer our patients the choice of face-to-face, virtual and phone appointments as well as home visits. To support this, we have excellent IT access and support staff home-working where appropriate.    

As a team we strongly value continuing professional development and offer an employee-led appraisal process and personal development plan. We will support you to develop your ideas for research and audit and offer collaboration and training with our Research & Development and Clinical Effectiveness teams. We also engage in student training and facilitate teaching opportunities.

We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled and committed dietitians to join this forward-thinking team. 

Main duties of the job

  • Working under the guidance of the Clinical Lead Dietitian, to provide dietetic care to a varied and diverse caseload of patients in the community and community inpatients. 

  • Providing specialist dietetic treatments e.g. CMPA and fussy eating advice 

  • Delivering a proportion of some care using online platforms e.g. One Consultation and MS Teams  

  • Coaching, delegating work to, and supporting Dietetic Assistant Practitioners (DAPs) and involvement in student training programme. 

  • Involvement in departmental research activity and quality improvement project work

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The “must haves” for this role:   

  • An undergraduate degree or post-grad qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics and registered with Health Care Professionals Council and full BDA membership 
  • Ability to demonstrate good experience and knowledge in paediatric dietetics   
  • Aptitude for coaching and supervising junior staff including Dietetic Assistant Practitioners. 
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work flexibly, travelling to multiple sites if required.   
  • Ability to work from home with access to Wi-Fi using equipment provided by BHFT

Education/Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Nutrition & Dietetics
  • UK registered with Health Professional Council
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association

Continuous Professional Development

Desirable criteria
  • Attended clinical student Supervisory Skills course
  • Attended a clinical/non-clinical Teaching Skills course

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • Strong experience of working in a variety of dietetic settings and partnership working
Desirable criteria
  • Previous involvement with the pre-registration practice placements for students

Additional Requirements

Desirable criteria
  • Ability to work from home when required with access to Wi-Fi
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites across Berkshire when required
