Job overview
You will be involved in the provision of clinical and operational pharmacy service to the patients of LYPFT (and at times other organisations under a service level agreement).
You will be expected and encouraged to undertake continued professional development in the areas of general pharmacy and mental health pharmacy as outlined by the General Pharmaceutical Council and College of Mental Health Pharmacy
You will have equal clinical and service provision responsibilities, the latter in the form of Medicines information sessions. You will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to a number of units.
You will provide professional pharmacist support to the site you are based and other pharmacists in the trust as required
In order to gain a rounded experience of mental health pharmacy, you may be required to work across sites and to participate in the on call and weekend rota.

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Who are we looking for?
Due to maternity leave, the Pharmacy team are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will have up-to-date clinical knowledge and experience and will be able to apply this to improve the quality of clinical care.
A background in hospital practice is desirable but not essential, as there will be opportunities for the development of clinical skills as well as the opportunity to undertake further clinical training. The successful candidate will have good communication skills and be able to understand and interpret complex clinical information and communicate it to patients, carers and other health professionals. We would require you to travel between trust sites with a car.
This job would be suitable for a newly qualified pharmacist.
What will your role be?
We provide clinical services from three bases across the city with clinical input into a range of services from our Community Mental Health and Intensive Support Teams right through to our Forensic and Intensive Care services. Your post would be rotational, offering you the opportunity to develop your clinical skills across the full range of our inpatient services.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to;
Review medicines and provide medicines optimisation within multidisciplinary meetings
Provide clinical advice and support to secondary and primary care regarding psychiatric medication
Review complex cases and make treatment suggestions
Provide training to nursing, medical and pharmacy colleagues
The post is full time, and includes on-call and weekend working; flexible working and job share requests will be considered.
