Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide psychological assessment and intervention to patients, parents and families through individual appointments and groups and workshops. The postholder will also provide perspectives to psychological care planning in collaboration with other members of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as providing teaching and training to MDTs and other BWC staff. The postholder will promote psychological healthcare and contribute to the creation of trauma-informed healthcare environment for patients, families and staff.
The post could be appointed either as a preceptorship towards an 8a role for the right applicant wishing to develop from a band 7 or be appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly. We are able to put a full development plan in place from day one to support applicants wishing to be considered for this post as a preceptorship.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be based within the Health in Mind team, which is a multi-disciplinary team including clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists and a liaison psychiatrist. The post holder will provide input as part of the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be expected to:

Identify the psychological needs of children and their families

Undertake complex clinical assessments and formulations of health-related difficulties children and families are experiencing.

Use clinical formulations to inform and evaluate the effectiveness of treatments

Contribute to psychological care planning and signpost where appropriate
-
Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings and Health in Mind team and stream meetings and events

Collaborate with team members in audit, research and training/ teaching

Collaborate with Special Interest Groups as appropriate

Provide advice and guidance to parents based on assessment findings

Provide psychosocial support and formulation to MDTs

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Clinical Psychology Doctorate Essential A
- Registered Practitioner Psychologist with Health Care Professionals Council
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate training in a specialist therapeutic approach
Knowledge & Nature of Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with children /adolescents
- A knowledge of psychologically and trauma-informed healthcare
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of working with inclusively with children, young people, parents & their families
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting/inpatient setting
Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Able to prepare psychology reports and score psychometrics using IT
- Confidence and experience of using Microsoft Systems (e.g. Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, etc)
- Confidence and experience of using digital platforms to aid communication and connection e.g. MS Teams, Zoom, AccuRX, Doctor doctor
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of specialist psychological literature/ guidelines
- Confidence and experience using common NHS IT systems e.g. EPIC (Electronic Patient Record) electronic Staff Record (ESR)
