Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a senior occupational therapist/physiotherapist to join our dynamic Emergency Department and Urgent Care Therapy team.

You will take a lead role in the advanced assessment of patients, who may have complex and/or chronic presentation, to determine, therapy treatment and facilitating timely discharge planning. The post holder will also support junior staff members and students, with active involvement in service developments.

The post holder will also undertake a coordinating role in the delivery of the therapy service within their specific clinical area and wider department on a day-to-day basis and this will include the provision of a 7-day service, extended hours with shift patterns.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also undertake a coordinating role in the delivery of the therapy service within their specific clinical area on a day-to-day basis and this will include the provision of a 7-day service in our clinical specialities.  The post holder will also support junior staff members and students.

Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Basic IT/keyboard skills (2)

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Clinical education training

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Significant post qualification experience in clinical area relevant to post
  • Evidence of post graduate training in specialist clinical area
  • Have an understanding of developments within the NHS and the Trust, and their implication on Therapy
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice
Desirable criteria
  • Other responsibilities e.g. HASAW rep, trade union rep/steward

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience at band 5 in core areas of respiratory, musculoskeletal, neurology and orthopaedics

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates the ability to teach, guide and direct therapy assistants and students in clinical practice
  • Flexible working to meet the need of the service
  • Able to delegate appropriately
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally, in a good clear and logical manner including good standard of documentation in application
