Rotational Occupational Therapist

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021
We provide high quality, friendly and effective community health services from multiple sites covering Walsall. Our multidisciplinary services include rapid response and homebased care, so that those with long term conditions and the frail elderly can remain in their own homes.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust are looking to recruit new graduates or established Band 5s to an exciting rotational Occupational Therapy position. You will be working across our expanded rotation covering Trauma and Orthopaedics, Elderly Medicine, Acute Medicine, Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Stroke, Intermediate Care Services, Wheelchair Services, Palliative Care and Acute Admission Avoidance Team.
Training & Support will be provided by experienced Therapists already working in each speciality field with the focus on developing the skills of the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated, innovative Occupational Therapists who are interested in expanding their knowledge and skills across these areas. You will need sound clinical skills, a flexible approach; including excellent team working, organisational and time management skills.
On each rotation you will work within a team of Therapists who specialise in the management of acutely unwell patients and the rehabilitation of patients recovering from critical illness, working closely with other members of the multi-professional team.
You will join our dynamic team of Therapists who strive towards holistic recovery and regaining independence following surgery or illness within this teaching Trust. We are committed to continued professional and career development of all staff.
Rotations are 5 months in duration and allow for the development of the specialist skills required to deliver high quality care to a varied specialist group of patients

Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010, and ongoing upgrades ensure the Trust now has state-of-the-art facilities, including a Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit. A new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre, opened in March 2023, has significantly improved emergency care facilities and capacity, providing almost 5,000 square metres of additional clinical space.
