This is an opportunity to develop your administrative skills as part of a great team who deliver important and valuable work. We are the South West Central Regional Research Delivery Network. We are part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research, supporting the country’s world-class research system to deliver high-quality research that enables the best care for our population. 

Based in Whitefriars in Bristol city centre, the Business Operations Team provide effective and efficient administrative support for all aspects of South West Central’s work. This includes (but is not limited to) diary management, organising events, keeping the office running smoothly, and all aspects of day-to-day administration. The team is led by the People and Operations Manager. We help our people develop as they strive to deliver the best support possible. We are hosted by the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston Foundation Trust (UHBW) and as a member of their staff you will have access to training and development opportunities from both organisations.

Main duties of the job

  • Dealing with complex and sensitive information with individuals, patients, carers, health care professionals and other services and departments.

  • Initiate and respond to requests for information electronically, by telephone or in person in a timely and courteous way.

  • Be the central point of contact for service users, neighbours and colleagues to facilitate the smooth running of the RRDN.

  • Support staff within the department.

  • Diary maintenance.

  • Supporting with on-the-day running of virtual and face-to-face events, e.g. facilitating IT and AV, sharing slides, supporting delegates and speakers.

  • Accurate data entry on various internal and external systems.

  • Typing of department’s correspondence including letters and e-mails. This may be varied in style and layout and will include research, finance and medical terms.

  • Actively participates in monitoring lone working staff and general office working arrangements.

  • Maintaining stock (stationery and equipment) and order as required, including receiving goods into the department. 

  • Managing departmental e-mails (high volume)
