Job overview

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust invite applications for the post of Radiology Fellow - Musculoskeletal Radiology:

The fellow would work with four Consultant MSK radiologists to deliver multimodality specialist MSK reporting, provision of diagnostic and interventional MSK ultrasound lists and fluoroscopic intervention, including biopsies and nerve root blocks.

The fellow will have their own MSK US and fluroscopy lists, which will be supported depending on ability. The department also receives large numbers of referrals for CT guided MSK biopsies from the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre and the fellow would help support the weekly CT guided MSK intervention list, as well as CT guided radiofrequency ablations of Osteoid Osteomas in the Children’s Hospital.

There are multiple clinical meetings with the orthopaedic and rheumatology teams from both the BRI and Weston sites every week, and there is potential scope for specialist paediatric MSK experience at the BCH.

Main duties of the job

The fellow will provide one session of acute CT/MRI reporting (Hub session) per week and a plain film or general ultrasound session per week. There is also provision for weekend on call work 1:4 or 1:5  Saturday and Sunday from 10am-6pm. No overnight or week day on calls. The remaining sessions would be reserved for MSK imaging.

The fellow is expected to participate in all musculoskeletal imaging activity, but there is scope to tailor timetables depending on interests and training goals.  There will be opportunities to assist with audit, service improvement projects and ongoing research in the Unit. Participation in clinical research leading to a publication is strongly encouraged and will be supported.

We have two full-time, fixed-term posts available: One for a period of 12 months and another for a period of 6 months, with the opportunity to be part of the adult/ paediatric  Radiology registrar on call  rota 1:10 depending on numbers of rotating registrars on the Severn radiology scheme.
