Human Resources Business Partner (Medical Staffing Lead)

Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and professional HR Business Partner who will be our Medical Staffing Lead to join our team. In this role, you will work in partnership with the Medical Leadership team, HR Business Partners, and Senior Managers to provide professional, customer-focused HR advice, coaching, and solutions that support the business, including complex caseload management.

This role can be based in either Huntingdon, Cambridge or Peterborough.

Main duties of the job

•    Lead on Employee Relations within the Medical & Dental workforce for CPFT and partner organisations, such as Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.
•    Manage and support employment relations cases primarily for medical staff, covering areas such as disciplinaries, capability, Maintaining High Professional Standards, and sickness and absence.
•    Take responsibility for the accurate monitoring of workforce reports and support the Medical Staffing team and HR Advisors with any issues identified.
•    Identify and manage workforce issues and support major change programs.
•    Support the development, integration, and implementation of corporate HR strategy, policy, and practice.
•    Assist the Medical Workforce Lead in providing advice and support to the Medical Director and other senior clinicians in applying Human Resources policy and procedures.
•    Act as the initial point of contact for Clinical Directors in relation to Employee Relations cases.

Workforce

To work in partnership with the HR Team, Medical Leadership Team, Senior Managers and other People Services Teams to establish the HR strategies and plans necessary to support:

·       The successful delivery of all services.

·       The achievement of business targets, for medical staffing and HR.

·       The achievement of cost improvement initiatives,

·       The implementation of service development strategy.

To support workforce, change and modernisation initiatives in the operational teams by identifying and implementing new ways of working and appropriate use of people resources and tole re-design etc.

Organisation and Workforce change programmes

To support the Medical Leadership Teams, Senior Managers and Line Managers with the HR process of staff involvement and consultation, working with staff side partners, to enable the introduction of new ways of working.

HR Practice

To be an advocate for HR management best practice through the fair, efficient and pragmatic application of best practice techniques and demonstrating a ‘Just Culture; approach.

Employee Relations

To be responsible for the provision of an effective day-to-day advisory service, supporting the Medical Staffing and HR Advisors to improve people management skills in the Trust and improve the overall performance of the Trust through better managed staff.

To support the Trust in responding to Employment Tribunal claims including active Case Management, liaising with Trust External Solicitors, and attending employment tribunals as Trust representatives and potential witnesses.

Professional HR Services:

Take responsibility for the initial review or development of employment policies, including researching changes in legislation and case law, national and local HR initiatives and service improvements.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to master's level or equivalent experience in Human Resources and Medical Workforce processes.
  • CIPD Qualified to Level 7 of equivalent experience
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • Member of CIPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current NHS and employment related Government issues and policy direction.
  • In depth knowledge and application of Human Resource best practice and working with the Medical Workforce.
  • Thorough understanding and application of Employment Law and Equality legislation.
  • Experience in applying a business partner approach – working with Directorate Leadership team and Senior Managers to develop services and applying HR expertise to provide solutions to complex problems.
Desirable criteria
  • Working knowledge of NHS terms and conditions of employment.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to assimilate, analyse, interpret and present complex data and information clearly and concisely using a range of IT tools and software.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, be able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines ensuring competing demands are met
