Job overview
**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the ‘ECT Family’ this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**
We are looking to recruit a dynamic Upper GI Nurse Endoscopist to support our Endoscopy Service at East Cheshire NHS Trust. Innovation in service delivery and flexibility to work within the needs of the service are key requirements of this role.
The post holder will be able to undertake Upper GI endoscopy as a qualified Nurse Endoscopist. The post holder will work autonomously, managing whole episodes of patient care independent of medical supervision. They will be a key member of the Multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will have their own caseload of patients for whom they will perform upper gastro-intestinal diagnostic endoscopy.
The appointee will play a key role in providing a high quality, efficient, patient focused in the endoscopy service.
The post will be based at Macclesfield District General Hospital.
Hours per week: 37.5

- The post holder will provide highly specialist and advanced clinical knowledge, skills and decision-making within the Endoscopy/Gastroenterology service.
- The post holder will be able to undertake Upper GI endoscopy procedures as a qualified Nurse Endoscopist.
- The post holder will work autonomously, managing whole episodes of patient care independent of medical supervision.
- They will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team.
- The post holder will have their own caseload of patients for whom they will perform upper gastro-intestinal diagnostic endoscopy.
- Upper GI Nurse Endoscopist To work as part of the multidisciplinary team in providing a high-quality service meeting the physical and emotional requirements for both inpatients and outpatients undergoing procedures within the Endoscopy and Treatment Unit.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential criteria
- A Registered Nurse on part 1, 3, 5 or 8 of the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) Register.
- JAG (Joint Advisory Group in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy) accreditation for Endoscopist role on JAG Endoscopy Training System (JETS) site
- Evidence of recent continuing professional development
- Evidence of training/update on lower GI (Gastrointestinal) therapeutic endoscopic intervention
- Cannulation
Desirable criteria
- Relevant Degree
- Nurse prescriber
- First level degree or equivalent qualification in relevant subject
- Hold or be working towards a master’s degree
- BoSS (Barrett’s Oesophagus Surveillance Study) registered endoscopist or willingness to train to undertake the role.

- Significant experience in a nursing post in Endoscopy.
- Considerable experience of working as a nurse endoscopist in a hospital setting
- Experience in running lists
- Able to perform Upper GI diagnostic endoscopy
- Achievement of highquality patient care through evidenced based practice
- Expert knowledge in anatomy and physiology of the GI tract
- Leadership of clinical governance and patient safety
