Job overview

We are looking for someone organised and efficient to support in administration within the NGS Macmillan Unit.  This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, for 22.5 hours per week.

We care for our staff as much as we do for our patients, so need someone who can support all the staff within the unit.  Please see detailed Job Description and Person Specification attached, for more information.

 

Main duties of the job

You would be supporting the NGS Macmillan Unit, including  the Chemotherapy team, the Palliative Care team, Acute Oncology team, the  Macmillan Information & Support Centre team and the Cancer Services Manager.

This will enable our clinical teams to spend more time in the clinical environment. You would be supporting them with their administration tasks, including diary management, recruitment, arranging meetings, procurement,  trainings and absence reviews, producing newsletters and displays and any other administrative tasks as and when required.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital is located in Calow, Chesterfield, which is situated on a green field site on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is home to the Crooked Spire and is also close to Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, thus offering numerous choices for recreational activities and lifestyles.

Chesterfield Royal Hospital was officially opened by the queen in 1985 and since then it has continued to expand and modernise, currently holding approximately 550 beds. We provide acute in-patient and out-patient care for Chesterfield and the surrounding rural area of North Derbyshire, serving a population of approximately 350,000 people.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level in English Grade 8-4 (or equivalent)
  • Excellent keyboard (IT) skills, RSAIII level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of using Health Roster/ similar system
  • Previous experience of Incident reporting (Datix)
  • Previous experience of using Agresso or unit4
  • Working knowledge of TRAC recruitment system

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of working independently and as part of a wider team
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office and Excel applications
  • Previous experience of working in an office environment
