Join our team as a highly motivated Band 4 Activities Coordinator, driven by a genuine passion for delivering excellent care.
Your primary focus will be on developing, planning and delivering engaging activities for our patients, ensuring their time at Cherry Tree Close is enriched and enjoyable.
The Activities Coordinator is an integral part of the team at Cherry Tree Close, actively collaborating with different agencies to identify and provide a multitude of activities for patients. The post holder will be responsible for planning and organising an engaging and stimulating program of activities within the service, aimed at supporting service users on their path towards recovery and independent living.
You will play a key role in encouraging and inspiring service users to participate in meaningful activities whilst maintaining their independence, choice and dignity.
Your role will involve interacting with individuals to explore their preferences for activities. You will be expected to coordinate activities that are personalised to meet the specific needs of each individual, as well as plan group activities that facilitate social interaction. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in supporting patients to attend community-based activities by arranging transportation.
You will have the pleasure of working with an experienced clinical team that consists of Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Nursing Assistants and medics.
Main duties of the job
To work directly with service users in providing high-quality service delivery.
To provide recreational activities focused on the Recovery model and to support the rehabilitation of mental health service users:
- To be creative in involving the service users in planning which ensures they remain at the centre of decision making.
- To be highly organised and dynamic with a positive attitude in planning, resourcing and carrying out activities.
- To support patients to achieve their goals in accordance with their recognised needs and support plans.
- To have the confidence to facilitate individual and group activities on the ward and pursue community-based activities for our patients.
- Identify patient activity needs and wishes through assessment, observations, and discussion
- Explore the most appropriate methods and resources for meeting activity needs, including group events, individual sessions, using internal and external sources.
- Actively demonstrate the Trust values.
- Being proactive in nature and have the skill to motivate patients and stimulate their involvement in the offered activities

Activity Coordinator
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Evidence of and commitment to undertake continued professional development
- Ability to plan and prioritise meaningful patients activities
Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of coordinating activities
- Experience of working with people with mental health and working in partnership with patients to tailor effective care.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a Mental Health setting
- Knowledge of current mental health policies and procedures
- Knowledge and experience in delivering different activities including sports and recreational activities.
