Job overview
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a permanent Band 3 Senior Health care assistant role on the Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment Unit working between at Royal Sussex County Hospital & Princess Royal Hospital.
We are looking for someone who strives for high standards of patient care to join our friendly and highly professional team at the Sussex Cancer Centre, to carry out assigned tasks involving direct patient care in predominantly in the SACT Unit but may be required to work in the Outpatient department and our satellite unit at Princess Royal Hospital
The post requires you have skills in venepuncture, cannulation and good communication.

Main duties of the job
To be actively involved in delivering a high standard of individualised holistic patient care to promote and maintain all aspects of his / her physical, social, cultural and psychological wellbeing.
Working under supervision from nursing staff, provide nursing care as part of the multi-disciplinary team to patients attending the unit. Communicating with and referring to other healthcare professionals as necessary.

Experience/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 1 year health care experience
- Level 3 qualification in healthcare or equivalent qualification at level 3
- Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
- Competent in venepuncture and cannulation
- Basic knowledge in Oncology / Haematology
- Able to use a scalp cooling machine
- Recognising an unwell patient
