Main duties of the job

The Urology department at PRH has expanded with the new Urology Investigation and Treatment Centre (UITC). The role involves supporting the Urology team by providing professional ultrasound services and performing Lithotripsy (ESWL) for renal and ureteric stones.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform and report independently on a wide range of ultrasound examinations. 

  • Perform Lithotripsy (ESWL) with training provided as necessary. 

  • Liaise effectively with multi-disciplinary teams to provide high standards of care. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Enthusiastic with excellent communication skills. 

  • Highly motivated and dedicated to personal development. 

  • Experience in urology or cancer settings is ideal. 

Team: 

  • Work collaboratively with committed and supportive Consultants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and other medical and nursing colleagues to ensure excellent patient experience and clinical outcomes. 

Work Environment: 

  • Part of a committed and supportive team including Consultants, Nurse Specialists, FDNs, Patient Navigators, and junior members. 

  • A state-of-the-art Urology Investigation and Treatment Centre (UITC) that consolidates all outpatient treatments into a single, specialised unit. 

  • Collaborative working environment aimed at ensuring excellent patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Person specification

Experience / Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Graduate in radiography DCR(R) or other accepted qualification e.g. Midwife. Master's level qualification in Ultrasound. (Certificate, Diploma, MSc in clinical ultrasound. DMU).

Registration

Essential criteria
  • HCPC or other professional body

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate highly sensitive complex information to patients, requiring empathy and reassurance.

Planning / organisational

Essential criteria
  • Ability to prioritise and organize unpredictable workload effectively. Ability to interact successfully with fellow health care professionals and to organise and supervise assisting staff.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use the Radiology management system effectively and create reports for clinicians.

Skills and ED&I

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
  • Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
