Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Matron in the Older Peoples Services CDG 3 on the Ipswich site. Older peoples services is a progressive department, working in an integrated way with Medical and Therapy colleagues.
This is a great opportunity to become part of our compassionate, dedicated & patient centred team, playing a key role in maintaining the quality care we deliver to our patients.
You will have extensive experience as a senior nurse & have a proven track record of leading a team, be responsive to the needs of patients & staff & be passionate about staff well-being. You will lead by example, motivate & empower the team so excellent communication skills are essential.
We will support you in developing your portfolio & by doing this you will lead on quality priorities within the division & represent the division in Trust wide forums & be involved in projects, service development & redesign.
Main duties of the job
· For the continuous improvement of clinical productivity, patient safety and experience for all patients and carers
· Accountable for the delivery and monitoring of robust infection control measures through relentless vigilance by ensuring delivery of all aspects of the Infection Control Strategy
· For management of the nursing and clinical service, ensuring the delivery of high quality, timely care
· Ensure that care delivery is not only compassionate and effective but also compliant with regulatory standards and best practice frameworks
· A proactive approach to governance will be essential in maintaining quality assurance, supporting audit activities, and driving service improvements across your area of responsibility
· Line manage the senior nursing staff & support them to develop & lead their own teams, having oversight of the resource management, including budget responsibility.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Evidence of academic pathway equivalent to Degree in Nursing or Health Related study
- • Masters Degree in relation to health management Or equivalent experience that recognises developed and complex levels of knowledge, which enable the development of original responses to complicated and unpredictable problems and situations. Professional training / Learning at this level will need to demonstrate highly developed professional knowledge, which is appropriate for senior professionals / managers
- • Professional nursing qualification
- • Demonstration and evidence of personal professional development
Desirable criteria
- • Masters Degree or working toward/unit/departments Masters Degree level education
- • Management Leadership Qualification, which has been tested in a management post
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience at senior nurse level with recent experience as Band 7 or above with highly developed and detailed knowledge and experience
- Experience of effective budgetary management
- Significant experience of effective staff management
- Experience of interpreting national policies and initiatives and implementing these into the workplace
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- Experience of ability to manage and lead nursing team
Desirable criteria
- • Experience in preparing business cases
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Heightened awareness of national nursing and midwifery initiatives
- • Proven ability to lead teams effectively, exercising sound judgement
- • Strong quality focus with an innovative approach & the ability to solve complex problems

- • Experience of working to a strategic direction and have contributed to this.
