Job overview

Are you looking for a new challenge to develop your skills and knowledge? Interested in Respiratory and Critical Care?

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and innovative Occupational Therapist to join our established Critical Care & Respiratory Rehabilitation team as a Band 7 Occupational Therapy Lead.

You will have the opportunity to develop the occupational therapy provision, using their clinical and management experience within Respiratory Care and Critical Care specialties. This will include anxiety management, cognitive and functional abilities, energy conservation techniques, vocational rehab, and stress management. You will also work to facilitate discharge and optimise patient outcomes.

As this is a new post Service development will form a large part of the role.

Main duties of the job

You will provide clinical leadership and specialist occupational therapy at Colchester Hospital.

You will manage a clinical caseload, completing assessments, treatment sessions and discharge planning. You will also take on joint operational responsibilities with the Band 7 Physiotherapists for the whole team on a daily basis and lead on occupational therapy service development initiatives.

You will be directly involved in audit and development of the service to continuously improve patient care.

If you feel you can demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, have worked within a large multidisciplinary team to support functional assessments and interventions to facilitate safe and effective discharge planning for complex patients, and have worked in respiratory or critical care, then this may be the role for you.

Working for our organisation

We are ESNEFT and we provide hospital and community health services to almost one million people across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our dedicated staff deliver care from acute hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, community hospitals, surgeries, community clinics and in patients’ own homes.

We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, employing more than 12,000 staff.

We pride ourselves on supporting our staff. We offer a wide range of training and development opportunities, as well as flexible working options.

Along with supporting you to achieve your career goals we offer a generous pension scheme, unsocial hours payments (where applicable), 27 days annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and access to a range of NHS discounts. Our Staff Health and Wellbeing programme offer a variety of services.

Our philosophy is that Time Matters to everyone. Across the Trust, we concentrate on improving the things we do and removing those which cause time delays for our staff and patients.

We are investing in our commitment to Time Matters with a partnership with leading electronic patient record (EPR) supplier Epic. This digital transformation will bring what’s widely regarded as the world’s best EPR system to ESNEFT, transforming life in hospital for staff and patients.
